Oh the Burnsing sensation Foo had when he met this Robert Burns guy in the park. He was kind of a spicy writer!

To a Foo

When Foo met the famous Scottish poet Robert Burns in the gardens, Foo asked him to write a poem about him. He was a little stony about the whole thing, but agreed on a parody of one of his famous odes (To a Mouse). It follows.

Wee, russet, smilin', advent'rous beastie,

Oh, what a brav'ry's in thy breastie!

Thou need na start awa sae hasty,

Wi' urgenting mettle!

I was be laith to rin an' chase thee,

Wi' poet'ing prattle!
