Mine Boom

Foo found a sad but important memorial to the fifth worst mining disaster in U.S. history. The concentric circle of headstones mark the 184 men who died in the blast, leaving the town of Rocky Top with only three adult males. Foo makes four.

Tuskegee Foo

That beacon certainly led Foo to a historic site, a memorial to the Tuskegee Airmen. Foo read about all their accomplishments and how important they were in the war.
Foo even got to pose with one of the men and look up toward the sky with Tuskegee Foo pride.

Sitting on Safety

After his long walk around Princeton and its parks, Foo decided to sit for a spell on this fancy stone bench. Only after sitting for a bit did he realize it was really a memorial to the fighters of WWII who strove to make the world safe for everyone.

9-11 Rememories

Foo found himself suddenly at the memorial for 9-11. He didn't get to see it himself, but the images sure are terrifying.
The memorial had many interesting parts to it, including actual material that once was the tower.
He even found a Statue of Liberty replica with all kinds of signs and stuff and particulates. Very internationally patriotic!
Foo was especially pleased to see the specs for the new sculpture that will go on the site of the former towers. As far as memorials go, it is very interesting... and a hole in the ground.

Badger Badger Badger

Foo was fascinated by all of the badges from all of the service workers who flocked to New York to help out with the 9/11 disaster. There are good people in the world... well beyond Foo that is.

Engine Go Boom

While in Smithville, Foo also came across this memorial. Apparently it is a remnant of a great steam engine explosion of 1911 in which many people died. This leftover piece serves as a memory, which is cool, but the strange this is that the bird on top is part of the sculpture, too... yet there were bird droppings... weird.

Immigration Nation

Foo liked how inspiring this memorial to the immigrant was. Mother America is reaching up to the stars to embolden the tired, poor and hungry of the world.
From the back, Foo noticed the nice people Mother America was protecting and looking out for, not shutting out.

This is how it should be.

Logging Time

Just outside Hermann Park is this memorial log cabin, apparently to commemorate the early settlers of the area. It's kind of odd smooshed right up against a hospital, but space is money.

Foo also found there a slab in memory of Terry's Texas Rangers. Apparently this Terry fellow was a cool dude. Foo just wonders where the balls on top of the slab came from...

Space Memories

As a veteran astronaut himself, Foo was glad to stumble upon this memorials to ruinous space missions and other space items. This one is for the seven men and women who died in the Challenger explosion in 1986.
This one actually got a rocket picture as is dedicated to the seven men and women who died in the Columbia disaster in 2003.
Although no one died on this one, it was still very tranquil to read and learn about the small step for man and a big step for Foo kind with this honorary plaque at Tranquility Park. He was disappointed in the astronaut depiction though because they forgot to add Foo in the picture.

Fallen Heroes

Foo accidentally found this memorial to the Flight 93 plane and victims that died saving others from the tragedies of 9-11. He's glad he got to pay his Foo respects to the heroic people.
