Do You Have the Time?

Foo kept asking and asking everyone he met, but no one knew the time so when he found this gigantic sundial outside the Houston Museum of Natural Science, he was so excited and at last could get on with his day. It seemed to be about an hour off though....

Con-Foo-Cius Say...

Foo loved listening to the wise, wise words of Confucius when he met him wandering in the park. With so many great things to hear, Foo just couldn't decide which one was his favorite so he made a pledge to try to follow them all.

Cow-Quistador

Foo just had to giggle at this brave conquistador's name. Senor Cabeza de Vaca sounds just fine in Spanish, but had he been an English soldier instead, Mr. Cowhead be his name!

Foo Had a Dream...

...that just came true when the great Martin Luther King, Jr., included Foo in one of his speeches. Foo, after all, is a proponent of inclusion for every Foo in every walk of life.

A Foo by Any Other Name...

...would be as sassy. He's sure of it. Still, he stopped to soak up the beauty and fresh scents of the roses in Hermann Park. Luckily the Queen of Hearts was not in attendance because clearly Foo forgot to paint the roses red, and it would be off with his head.

Theatre Outdoors

More than just a gaping black hole out of which will come the hordes of darkness, the Miller Outdoor Theatre is apparently a great place to see plays and concerts. Foo looks forward to coming back here. The actors were apparently still in their cages at this moment.

Must Be Fate

Foo just new he was destined to find great adventures at Hermann Park, especially when he came across this apropos Atropos Key. Representing one of the Three Greek Goddesses of Fate, Atropos is the cutter of the thread of life, which was actually kind of scary, considering she's the one who decides when people die.

Upon learning this, Foo frantically searched for her other two sisters, Clotho (the spinner of the thread of destiny) and Lachesis (the measurer of the thread), to make sure he was doing just fine. He couldn't find them so he just left quickly. So far so good...

Please, Sir...

Foo really got into character when he found Oliver Twist at the Miller Outdoor Theatre begging for some more. Beg as they might, the bowl remained empty. With tummy rumbling, Foo eventually went on his way. Sorry Oliver, Foo tried.

Trojan Bear

On Foo's walk around Hermann Park, suddenly he happened upon this Portable Trojan Bear. He knew at once that he must use it to infiltrate... something...
But try as he might, Foo couldn't quite get the bear to move. He tried getting on its nose and yelling back orders.
Then he tried getting on its back and asking it to move from there.

After a while he just gave up, scoffing at the "portability" of it and guessing that just means for giants...

Logging Time

Just outside Hermann Park is this memorial log cabin, apparently to commemorate the early settlers of the area. It's kind of odd smooshed right up against a hospital, but space is money.

Foo also found there a slab in memory of Terry's Texas Rangers. Apparently this Terry fellow was a cool dude. Foo just wonders where the balls on top of the slab came from...

Out of Africa

Although Foo didn't have time today to go into the Houston Zoo, he did make it a point to say hi to the zoo's guardian Elwood. In their brief conversation, Foo learned that Elwood was from Africa, which would kind of explain why he was a little thin around the middle. Maybe he runs really fast after people who try to sneak into the zoo.

Thank You, Mr. Hermann

Foo just couldn't pass up the chance to say thank you to Mr. Hermann for providing for such a lovely park for Foo to play in. It turned out, Mr. Hermann was a busy man, and had his attention elsewhere, but Foo decided to pose in a similar way for the photo.

Turtle Power

At the park, Foo got to imagine he in a Native American creation story. He acted as young brother crawfish, scooping up the dirt from the bottom of the sea and putting in on mother turtle's back to form the world. It didn't last long enough for another world to be created, but now he wants a feathered headdress...

In the Navy

Foo has always wanted to be a pirate that sails on the open seas. Today, he settled for a partial boat in a blue sea of squishy turf and barking out orders to the birds.

A Little Loopy

Foo wasn't sure what to make of this loopy tunnel in Hermann Park. Apparently it's a water sprinkler that people can run through, but with not water... it's kind of like a giant ribcage so Foo pretended he was a digesting snack...

You're My Water Ball

Foo really had a ball watching this giant stone sphere turn freely in this really cool water fountain. He tried to move the giant ball himself, but had no luck. He didn't know water was that strong!

Crazy Climb

Foo just had to try to get up this crazy blue ladder so he could see all around the park. Sadly, being short and not a monkey, this is about as far as he got.

Yo' Foo's So Fat...

Apparently Foo really needs to go on a diet since when he sat on this granite slab, the middle totally caved in under his weight. Nah... just kidding, but he might want to cut back on the beer.

Rock Legend

Foo has been removed from Japan so long, he's not entirely sure what this rock says, but he's fairly certain it's along the lines of "Foo is awesome. He rocks the Japanese House."

Mr. Pointy

Foo took a moment to pose with the obelisk in Hermann Park, and then a fountain started coming out of his back... As soon as he moved,  he was fine, but whoa... that was weird...
