Glassy Place

Foo enjoyed the serenity and silence of this brightly colored orchard garden. He really wanted to find an apple, but when he tried to walk further in, he realized it was just a stained glass window and he was in a museum... darn...

Toad the Line

Foo was just wandering around this beautiful garden when all of a sudden this large toad popped up from underneath him! I t was a crazy wild ride, but Foo managed to keep his balance and his footing. Whew!

Bird Is the Word

When Foo found out that this flower was called the Bird of Paradise, he stood there and waited for it to sing or talk or fly away... Sadly it wouldn't leave its green stalk so Foo walked away muttering something about it not being much of a bird.

Set in Stone

When Foo came upon this sign, he wondered what kind of sculptures he would find. Statues? Porcelain? Potatoes?

Foo looked all around and was amazed to see a multitude of monolithic marvels to behold. He just had to go closer to check them all out!

Hill-Billy Hotspot

Foo just couldn't wait to jump in when he heard there was a hot tub at the Swamp Shop... but then he actually went around back and saw it.... yeah... not so much.

I'm Going to Disney!

For a moment Foo thought he had won a trip to Disney World.... but he was still in New Orleans, and this was just St. Louis Cathedral, and he was standing in Jackson Square... ah well. Guess he has to win the Superbowl first.

To a Foo

When Foo met the famous Scottish poet Robert Burns in the gardens, Foo asked him to write a poem about him. He was a little stony about the whole thing, but agreed on a parody of one of his famous odes (To a Mouse). It follows.

Wee, russet, smilin', advent'rous beastie,
Oh, what a brav'ry's in thy breastie!
Thou need na start awa sae hasty,
Wi' urgenting mettle!
I was be laith to rin an' chase thee,
Wi' poet'ing prattle!

Con-Foo-Cius Say...

Foo loved listening to the wise, wise words of Confucius when he met him wandering in the park. With so many great things to hear, Foo just couldn't decide which one was his favorite so he made a pledge to try to follow them all.

Leave a Light On

Foo was so excited to see another relic from his homeland, this time a Japanese lantern. He just loves when they leave the light on for him.

Don't Be Shy

Foo happened upon this lovely lady in the gardens and decided to present her with a pretty purple flower. She giggled and was so flattered that she had to coyly shy away. Ah well, he tried to be a gentleman.

Foo Had a Dream...

...that just came true when the great Martin Luther King, Jr., included Foo in one of his speeches. Foo, after all, is a proponent of inclusion for every Foo in every walk of life.

A Foo by Any Other Name...

...would be as sassy. He's sure of it. Still, he stopped to soak up the beauty and fresh scents of the roses in Hermann Park. Luckily the Queen of Hearts was not in attendance because clearly Foo forgot to paint the roses red, and it would be off with his head.

A Little Loopy

Foo thought the gardens around the Menil Foundation Collection Library were just a bit loopy. He worried about getting stuck on his grassy island in the event of one of Houston's big rains... Luckily some passersby were able to help him out and get on his merry way.

Barbaric Bravery

Foo was so happy to find his friend, Beans, thanks to the helpful garden mermaid! As soon as he did, his luck continued and they were led bravely back to the festival by this resourceful barbarian who knew exactly where to take them!

Mermaid Rescue

During Foo's search for his way out of the gardens, he ran into a really helpful mermaid who apparently could swim in the ground. She held him up high and blew her magic shell horn, and lo and behold, Foo found some friends again!

Foo-mily Reunion!

Like he seems to do everywhere he goes, Foo found another one of his cousins in the garden. The big golden brethren tried his best to get Foo to stay and play a while longer, but he really needed to get out and back to the Texas Renaissance Festival. He knew there was more to see.

Thar Be Dragons Here!

As he frolicked merrily through the garden at the Texas Renaissance Festival, Foo stumbled upon this magical dragon. Immediately, they became fast friends, and the dragon agreed to take Foo on a wild ride around the forest and garden.

The trip was fun, but at the end, Foo had lost his way and couldn't find his way out again.

Foo-sel and Gretel

While walking through the magic gardens at the Texas Renaissance Festival, Foo came upon a glittering house made for Foo. He was wary about the house at first, remembering the tale of Hansel and Gretel, but one quick lick determined that it was, indeed, not made out of candy.

Big Foo-t?

On Foo's adventure in the magic gardens at the Texas Renaissance Festival, he waged a battle of wits and weaponry for a day and a night before victoriously stumping and thus defeating this gigantic beast that tried to stomp Foo into oblivion. (It was actually no match for the mighty Foo, but he requested the story because it was better for the blog.)

Metal Tree... Very Pretty

... and the metal flower is sweet, but Foo found out that the fruit from the metal tree was impossible to eat. When he found this tree in the magic gardens at the Texas Renaissance Festival, Foo almost chipped a tooth trying to eat the fruit before others were able to pry him off.
